Abbey Players present: A Christmas Story

Enjoy this classic holiday story performed by an esemble cast. Sponsored in part by a grant from the LA Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Dept. of Culture, Recreation and Tourism in cooperation with the LA State of the Arts Council by the Acadiana Center for the Arts. Noel au Musee

The Gueydan Museum will be decorated with an abundance of Christmas trees and Christmas everywhere! Open Wed.-Fri., 1-5 pm; Sat., 10 am-5 pm.

Abbeville's Annual Christmas Stroll

A family-oriented evening of strolling, visiting, shopping and dining. Santa Claus, music, white lights all within the beautifully decorated downtown historic district. 5:30-8pm

Movie Under The Oaks: How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Bring the family to enjoy the Christmas movie, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" under the oaks of Magdalen Square. Wear your favorite Christmas PJs and bring blankets or chairs. Food and refreshments will be sold. Gates will open at 6 pm with the movie beginning at 7 pm. Admission is free.

African American Heritage Exhibit

An exhibit highlighting the African-American culture in Vermilion Parish. Pictures, artwork, jewelry, etc. will be on display until the end of February. Opening reception, Jan. 13 at 11:30am. Mon-Sat., 10 am-5 pm

Sounds on the Square Spring Series

Join us under the beautiful Magdalen Square Oaks for an evening of music by Forest Huval. This Sounds on the Square is co-sponsored by the Carousel of Arts/Vermilion Arts Council.  Bring your lawn chairs and blankets! 5:30-8:30 pm.

Coffee & Music at Le Musee

Held the last Saturday of the month from March to November. Enjoy a cup of coffee, doughnuts, cracklins and boudin while listening to music by local musicians. 9:30-11 am

What are boudin and cracklins?

Boudin is a rice, meat and seasoning mixture that is stuffed into a sausage casing. So, Cajun sausage is a good description. Cracklins are fried pork rinds only much better than store bought. Hint: try them with our local Steen's syrup.

Bouquet Garni (boo-kay gar-nee)

An herb bouquet. A small cheesecloth bag containing 1 large bay leaf, teaspoon thyme, teaspoon dried basil, about 8 sprigs fresh parsley, teaspoon dried tarragon, 3 chopped green celery tops, 6 whole peppercorns and a slashed clove of garlic used in Cajun cooking
