Kaplan Christmas Parade

Kaplan's Main Street will be the place to be to see decorated floats, hear Christmas music, see Mr. and Mrs. Clause and enjoy holiday cheer. Kaplan Police Association will be selling chili dogs, soft drinks, hot chocolate and popcorn. Parade starts at 6 pm. Presented by Border Tacos in Kaplan.

Vivian Alexander Egg Art Class

What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday by creating your unique piece of art! Each participant will receive the supplies to decorate a goose egg and be able to take it home the following week. 10am-1pm

Chic-a-la-Pie Mardi Gras Parade

Enjoy a family-friendly, old-fashioned Mardi Gras parade down Cushing Blvd. 2 pm.

Abbeville's Annual Christmas Stroll

A family-oriented evening of strolling, visiting, shopping and dining. Santa Claus, music, white lights all within the beautifully decorated downtown historic district. 5:30-8pm

Movie Under The Oaks: The Blob

Bring the family to enjoy a movie shot in Abbeville in the late 1980s, "The Blob" under the oaks of Magdalen Square. Bring blankets or chairs. Food and refreshments will be sold by Bank of Erath's Relay for Life Team Corey. Gates will open at 6:15 pm with the movie beginning at 7:45 pm. Admission is free.

Sounds on the Square Spring Series: The Specklers

Join us under the beautiful Magdalen Square Oaks for an evening of music by The Specklers. Refreshments will be sold to benefit "Save the Franks." Bring your lawn chairs and blankets! 5:30-8:30 pm.

Coffee & Music at Le Musee

Held the last Saturday of the month from March to November. Enjoy a cup of coffee, doughnuts, cracklins and boudin while listening to music by local musicians. 9:30-11 am

What are boudin and cracklins?

Boudin is a rice, meat and seasoning mixture that is stuffed into a sausage casing. So, Cajun sausage is a good description. Cracklins are fried pork rinds only much better than store bought. Hint: try them with our local Steen's syrup.

Bouquet Garni (boo-kay gar-nee)

An herb bouquet. A small cheesecloth bag containing 1 large bay leaf, teaspoon thyme, teaspoon dried basil, about 8 sprigs fresh parsley, teaspoon dried tarragon, 3 chopped green celery tops, 6 whole peppercorns and a slashed clove of garlic used in Cajun cooking
